The Mechanism

Aligned, the sheer sections sit over each other and daylight passes through diffused and stripped of glare, with the outlook still readable. Offset, the opaque sections overlap and the window closes to full privacy. Everything between is available, which is what makes the adjustment feel continuous rather than a switch.
Banded shades also do something visual few treatments manage. The stripe gives a wide window a horizontal rhythm that suits contemporary architecture, and because the bands are part of the fabric rather than a mechanism, banded blinds still stack into a slim cassette when fully raised.
